Thank you for taking a moment or 2 to sit back with your phone and browse through my blog. My hope is that you realize you are not alone in helping the senior person in your life, it doesn’t matter if it is a parent, relation or someone that you just feel you should help out. I know that it has been a journey for me, in that I am completely learning as I go along. I have no issue letting those that I ask for guidance from know that I am learning in this process but most importantly I am trying to do what is best for my parent in this case. Some have been in my shoes, some expect to be in my shoes soon and so on…. the most important take away I have with all of this is that it is important to dedicate the time with the senior you are helping. It doesn’t need to be long periods of time as they tire easily typically but time nonetheless. And they are easily overwhelmed with simple things, each persons version of simple, of course, is different so bare that in mind.
So why did I decide that a blog would be a good idea? Well, it was something my husband suggested to me simply because we were running into so many others in similar positions as us but they were not certain how to best help their senior with this or that. And we have covered so many things with my mom that it was easy to overlook something. And it will in the future be a testament to all of the ground we have covered to get her from point a to point b. So why not share our journey with others who might find something useful or may have some suggestions on how they walked their journey that could help. So if you have some thoughts or suggestions please don’t hesitate to let me know!
We are all in this together so why not support and help each other as we go?
